switch 2023 – switch

Our video in the windows banner has gone up outside the nenagh Arts Centre on Wednesday 25th October.

We are using one of the spaces as a hub to prepare the projectors and Media Players.

Everything is PAT tested and we are checking the electricity sockets in all locations too…

When we started switch in 2008 we used DVD players. These days we use BrightSign Media Players, they are fantastic and require hardly any power to run.

If you are wondering how we turn the windows into projections screens, we use this secret ingredient. It is applied thin with a roller and if it is done right will create a perfect projection screen.

Some projectors can be turned on the side as long as there is enough space for ventilation.

From inside we can see the work on the wall and 2 reflections as well. One reflection is on the window and one is getting bounced onto the wall.

We always put our website on the shopfront where it does not interfere with the work. For the last 3 years we put up QR codes that lead to the artists webpage on our site – this has proven to be a popular edition.

Siince the very beginning we have done switch on tours where we are walking around and are switching on the works one by one. This year had a good turnout and was very interesting.
