Facemasks

Protect yourself and others by wearing an up-cycled re-usable facemask when you go shopping or are on a bike.

The facemasks I am making are based on the Olson pattern. The Olson Mask Pattern was designed by medical professionals to be used when other surgical and N95 masks are not available. In some hospitals in the USA and Germany they are allowed to be used by front line staff.

The facemasks are made by me here in Pollokshields, Glasgow, from un-used and up-cycled cotton & linen and have a pocket on the inside where you can insert a Hepa or paper filter. The outer layer and inner layer already provide a two layer protection, even without an inserted filter.

I am making the masks in 4 sizes: adults / beard-facemask / 2 kids sizes.

You can re-use the facemask, just wash them in a hot wash either by hand or in the washing machine. That’s what I do. Some people also just leave their masks in a wee basket for 5 days and then the virus is gone too.

If you are a dab hand on the overlocker or a sewing machine, you can make your own by using this pattern: Olson Pattern

best wishes & keep safe
